It all started with SgtMacsBar Open House, which turned into a "Fun Raiser" for the SgtMacsBar Fund, dba The Friends of SgtMacsBar

There was no cost for SgtMacsBar Open House, except the generosity of tips to the bar.  I hoped to recover the expense of the gathering and have a little left over for The SgtMacsBar Fund.  We did much better!

The SgtMacsBar Fund is used "To Bring Us All A Little Bit Closer" and 100% of donations are used for this cause. You have funded many CCA Memberships and most recently the SgtMacsBar Camaraderie Award presented to Red Ghormley and we sponsored a hole at the Whomper Stomper Open supporting the Warrior Foundation.

We also sent a small donation to Debbie Argel Bastian to support her fight to honor Derek and helped fund a CCA Membership.  Most recently we donated $100.00 for the CCA Reunion Hospitality Room.

And because the "Fun Raiser was such a success, The Friends of SgtMacsBar are taking our KIA/MIA CCT Families, and all CCT Widows out to lunch during the CCA Reunion.  You can view the pictures of the Luncheon by clicking below.

The Luncheon was such a success, it will be an event at all future CCA Reunions, Thank You for your support and if you're inclined to join the Friends of SgtMacsBar, do it today....... see below

If you don't recognize some of the names above, it's probably because they're my personal friends.  Even Jill's Biker Gang donated to the cause, which makes me wonder......... Why are so many Combat Controller names missing?

The Open House was a Huge Success and some of those attending. Jill’s Biker Gang, Curly Joe, Smokin’ Jay Winkler The Smokin' Hermit, and Tom & Judy Butcher didn’t understand the significance of the Open House.  However after meeting the guys and partying down for days with them, the Camaraderie came out.

Toni “Queen” Charlton, Ron Bible’s squeeze, threw $50.00 into the pot, just because she thought the money was doing good things.

I gave Tom and Judy $300.00 to help cover expenses and expected to be billed for more.  Tom and Judy were the POC’s for golf and own SgtMacsBar Auxiliary, opening their house to all of us for three days.  They returned the $300.00.

Smokin’ Jay Winkler, aka The Smokin' Hermit realized what we were doing and offered to cut his pay for the smokin’.  He’s a fair man and had numerous expenses and I don’t see how I could pay him less, so I refused the offer.  He put a Hefty Tip in the jar.

Where do these people come from?  Here’s a note I’d like to pass on;

Mac- I Just wanted to personally let you know how much I appreciate all the extra effort both you & Jill went to for this "party" you put on at your personal residence, ( certainly "above & beyond" ) THANKS from me. Also please let Judy & Tom know how much I appreciate their support- I have never had neighbors like them- you are a lucky man to have them for friends & neighbors.   Shirley & I had a great time.

It was good for me to be around old & new friends - & it was so good for me to spend time with Bill Frankenberger- I hadn't seen Bill & Linda since the late 60's at England AFB.  I will send you the photos I took on a disc in a day or two. I didn't take many, but maybe I got something the official photographer missed..... Steve Williams

Gene Harris brought his friend Spencer Ernst who donated a box of 898 Partagas Cigars.

My buddy Dru, owner of Hemingways Wines & Cigars supplied us with a box of wines from around the world and a few more from Missouri.

Many of you donated door prizes and gifts for the donators, the Grand Prize Winners, Nick & Sherry Fresques, selected Art Lawrence’s photograph of an Eagle as their prize.  This photograph will be presented to Nick & Sherry at the Gone But Not Forgotten Luncheon Friday, Nov 10th at the reunion.

It was my pleasure to present Greg Walsh, one of our newest CCT Officer’s with a Life Time CCA Membership made possible by Betty Sigman and co founder of the CCA, Dick Sigman; RIP.................

Waldoo Willis called and gave me an update on Dave Gfeller.  He was going to mail him a care package, I said I’d take care of it.  Waldoo and T.C. sent yet a third check along with Gil Bigelow and John Drozdowski to cover the package.  Steve Weger, Joe Edwards, and Steve Polofka handled the drop off which included a CCT and SgtMacsBar shirt donated with an on the spot request.  Pictures posted Waldoo….

Talk about requests, send Dave a card or call him atDave Gfeller, 2692 E. Highland Ave., Highland, CA. 92346  (909) 862-3114

Curly Joe played an extra set or two and the dancing went well into the night.  The neighbors all commented on how good the music was and we all had a Great Time…………

If you missed the Open House, no problems, we'll have another one in Sept 2008.  If you'd like to add your name to the list below allowing us to do bigger and better things, please send a donation made to Mike McReynolds, 2500 Hillshire Dr., Columbia, MO. 65203 and a small note identifying it for the SgtMacsBar Fund.  No money is used to maintain SgtMacsBar, all money goes back to Combat Control in an effort to;
