Combat Control Reunion 2008, Ft. Walton Beach

Hospitality Room

The CCA golf tournament kicked off bright and early at Gator Lakes Golf Course on Hurlburt Field. It was a beautiful day and the Mulligan’s were flying everywhere. With Rick Crutchfield’s experience as a tournament director and the course being in such great shape, the golf tournament turned out to be a superb outing. The tourney was followed by a buffet for the 46 golfers at the course Club House. Congratulations to the winning team(s) consisting of Mike West, Tony Baldwin, Chris Tallent and Jason Payne. Well, it was actually a tie with the “senior moment” team of Craig Brotchie, Rick Crutchfield, Stu Stanaland and Mike Klickovich. The “old farts” graciously offered the first place finish to the younger “better looking” team instead of playing a sudden death playoff.

On Friday evening (Halloween) about 50 folks came (some in costume) to the First Annual Texas Hold’em Card Tournament. This was an event that raised money for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation in the name of our recently fallen comrade, TSgt William Jefferson.  All who attended appeared to enjoy the poker and all the fellowship involved.  Congrats to the tournament winner Ryan Stanhope, who won by acing out second place finisher, Chris Crutchfield. During the post reunion “hot wash” CCA Board Members agreed that this event should be scheduled for future reunions.

The first event Saturday was the Memorial Service at the Hurlburt Air Park. CCA President Wayne Norrad welcomed the attendees and introduced the special guests. The colors were posted by a Combat Control Honor Guard and CMSgt (Ret) Julie Crutchfield sang the National Anthem.
